Lisnagarvey Youth Society Presents ‘Calamity Jane’,

Adapted by Ronald Hanmer and Phil Park from the stage play by Charles K Freeman after Warner Bro’s film written by James O’Hanlon. LYS are back with their modern and fresh retelling of the classic story.

Calamity can outrun and outshoot any man in Deadwood. Hard, boastful and desperate to impress, she travels to Chicago on the Deadwood Stage to recruit a star, Adelaid Adams. But things don’t quite go to plan, as everyone in town favours the new girl and she struggles to keep her jealousy and pride in check. It takes her long standing enemy Wild Bill Hicock to make her see sense and realise her secret love.

With an Oscar nominated score that includes ‘The Black Hills of Dakota’, ‘The Deadwood Stage (Whip Crack Away)’, ‘Windy City’ and the award winning song ‘Secret Love’, this show has something for everyone – so mount your horse and gallop along to the Island Hall to join Calamity & Friends.
